Packing For An Island Vacation?

Packing For An Island Vacation?

So as most of you know, I’m heading to the tropical island of Koh Samui next week and I couldn’t be more excited!! I’m also meeting up with a good friend of mine, The Lovist who’s a travel and lifestyle blogger living in Thailand. She’s originally from Cape Town and recently moved to Thailand to teach English so I’m really looking forward to catching up with her as well!

I’m the type of traveler that likes to be prepared for EVERYTHING and ANYTHING, hells… I even went to get vaccinations even after everyone told me it wasn’t necessary for Thailand… I thought I’d share with you my list of island-holiday-must-haves as I know these products will protect me against bugs, sun, sickness and anything else that could potentially ruin a vacation.

Untitled-1Travelers Wall Plug Adaptor – R91.95

This one comes as an obvious. I got this at Dischem, speaking of which – Dischem had literally almost everything I needed to buy for my vacation! I know that most resorts/hotels offer the adaptors for their visitors but I think it’s always good to have one of your own just for in case – you never know!

Peaceful Sleep Mosquito Repellent Aerosol – R44.95

Being on an island mozzies is definitely something you should anticipate and be prepared for! I sometimes get an allergic reaction to mosquito bites so I needed this, and for a peaceful nights rest as well. This is also really good for the kids.

BIOPLUS – R42.95

When on vacation there’s absolutely no time for “lazy days”. Also with all the daily activities and maybe a few late nights its normal to feel a little drained. Drinking BIOPLUS daily will keep you from feeling burnt out

Untitled-2Caribbean Tan Shimmer Lotion – R54.95

This is my favorite product to use in the summer! It gives you a gorgeous glow with a slight tint as well. It also smells really amazing.

Sorbet Sun Protection Face Cream SPF50 – R200

I already use this sunblock as a daily moisturizer underneath my makeup. Protecting your face from the sun will prevent pigmentation and premature ageing which is why I use this the whole year round.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water – R79.99

When on holiday you might not have the time to do a full facial cleanse every day which is when the Garnier Micellar Water becomes very handy! I love how effortlessly it removed makeup.

Untitled-3Essence 2in1 Waterproof Eye Shadow – R53.95

I swatched this eyeshadow stick at the Essence Event I attended recently and I was so surprised to see that it doesn’t just wash off under running water, you need to actually rub it off so I give it a 10/10 for being waterproof. Perfect if you’re in and out of the water.

Essence Prettifying Lip Oil – R38.95

Sufficient lip care is so important especially when you’re spending loads of time in the sun. Unfortunately for me I struggle with dry/chapped lips the whole year through so I’ll be taking several lip-care products with me, especially this one!

Caribbean Tan Sun Protection – R94.95 each

During this past summer I grew very fond of Caribbean Tan’s Sun Protection range. The Protection In A Can is super easy to use, lightweight and no mess and the Bronzing Milk protects your skin, while giving it a slight tint.

Untitled-4Hand Sanitizer Mini – R9.94

I like to keep one of these small bottles in my handbag at all times.

Anti-Mozzie Wrist Bands – R54.95

I also got this at Dischem and its great to wear just before you go to bed.

Hoola Benefit Bronzer

A little bronzer goes a long way… especially when you’re the only pale person on the island

Waterproof Mascara – R53.95

If you’re like me and prefer to wear makeup even on an island vacation, then make sure you pack in a waterproof mascara. This will also prevent your mascara from smudging due to excessive heat/sweating.

If there are any must-take items that you think I might have missed, please let me know in the comments down below.
