My Current Skincare Routine

So a little something different on the blog today… I thought I’d share with you my skincare routine and some of the skincare products that I’ve been using for ages. Many of these products are firm favorites and best of all, budget friendly!

With the amount of makeup we apply on a daily basis it’s so important that we incorporate a good skincare routine as well as to extend the youthfulness of our complexion and to avoid annoying breakouts. A few people have asked what products I use and these are my 5 daily skincare products:

Garnier Pure Active 3 in 1

I use this product religiously! Seriously! Anyone who tells me they have a breakout problem, I send them straight to the store to buy this product. My favorite thing about the Garnier Pure Active 3 in 1 is that you can use it as a scrub, wash and a mask which cuts out purchasing additional mask products.

It contains salicylic acid which has been proven to combat acne and problematic skin so if acne is a major concern for you then a product with salicylic acid is highly recommended.

It also contains Pumice which acts as a natural exfoliant to remove dead skin cells. I love using it as a mask too which I try to do at least once a week as it always leaves your skin feeling smooth and matte.

Price: This usually costs between £2.50 – £5.00 depending on where you buy it. I usually get this on offer at either Boots or Superdrug

Garnier Deep Cleansing Lotion

Basically this is a toner. A good toner! Another product I’ve been using for a few years now. I use this toner straight after a good cleanse with the Garnier Pure Active 3 in 1 as it cleans all the remaining dirt and makeup left behind. I also use it in the morning before I apply makeup.

Another product that contains salicylic acid – you might experience a slight tingle or burn when you first start using it but that’s not entirely a bad thing as you can be certain that your skin is getting rid of all impurities.

Price: R19.95 (not available in the UK)

Garnier Vanishing Cream

Possibly the nicest moisturiser I’ve ever used – it was actually taken off the shelves for about a year and when I walked into Dischem the other day I saw that it was back! I probably should have thrown a few into my basket in case they threw another stint like that…

This moisturiser is ideal for if you have oily skin, blemishes and imperfections. It has a fresh eucalyptus scent which leaves your skin feeling refreshed and clean. The texture is almost gel-like so it blends into your skin amazingly.

Price: Dischem advertised it for R29.95 (not available in the UK)

Nivea Q10 Plus Anti Wrinkle Night Cream

Myself and anti-wrinkle creams sort of have a love/hate relationship. I have no real guarantee that they will actually work but I still continue using them as part of my night-time skincare routine. I mean – what do you have to lose anyway?

This will be the first time that I’m using the Nivea anti-wrinkle range. Since Nivea offers quality skincare products I thought I’d try this one. It has a nice subtle scent and the texture is similar to body butter so I’m sure it will give your skin all the moisture it needs. If you’re going to be using an oily skincare product, make sure you use it at night so that your skin isn’t shining throughout the day.

Price: R120.00 or £10.99 at Boots

Ponds Light Infusing Under Eye Cream

This product does absolute wonders for making those dark circles appear much lighter. Since I don’t get enough sleep, ever, the Ponds Light Infusing Under Eye Cream has saved me from many applications of concealer. It doesn’t do much for puffiness though but still great for dark circles.

Price: R64.95 (not available in the UK)

Most of these products can last you up to 2 months so it’s real value for money. Also to remember – if you’ve tried just about everything for problematic skin and nothing seems to be working, it’s always a good idea to consult with a GP as they will be able to pinpoint problems that could be related to hormones, which is the underlying problem most of the time.

If you’re looking for something that will leave your skin glowing then this blog post from Katiefloss.com is a must-read!

♥ I put the Garnier Pure Active 3 in 1 Face Wash up against a very similar African Extracts 3 in 1 Face Wash to see which one was the best, read more HERE.

I’ve also tried a few other products from Garnier which also didn’t help my skin at all but with all these products put together it definitely has been working for me. I’ve also just finished my Ponds Flawless Radiance products and they are also very good!
